Hello everyone!

Welcome to my first blog ever. I actually wanted to give you a short introduction about what this blog is mainly going to be about. But, to be honest, I don’t know yet myself. So, I could start with telling you something about me.

Well, I’m Lena and I have been living and studying in Graz for about two months now. I was actually born in Bremen, in the very North of Germany, but moved to Carinthia when I was like two years old. If you asked me where my home is, I would immediately tell you it is Carinthia because that’s the place where I grew up and spent the longest part of my life so far.

Like most of you, I am interested in languages, not only foreign languages but my mother tongue as well. Besides languages, another big interest of mine is music. Since I went to a high school focussed on music, I know a lot about its history and all the theoretical stuff about notes. I also enjoy playing instruments and singing. Listening to music can affect my mood extremely. That’s why I see music as the most powerful form of art. In school and in my piano lessons I was forced to concentrate on classical and jazz music. Even though I had to work with them so much, I can still enjoy listening to these two genres. I guess I am one of the few people my age who voluntarily go to the opera house once in a while. 

Now you should not think that all I listen to are operas. No, I am open for almost any type of music. My favourite genres are Rock, Indie-Rock/Pop and Alternative. So, maybe if you are interested in it, there are going to be some blog posts about music, album or artist recommendations or something like that.   

As I have talked so much about music now, I feel like I also have to share some of it with you, to give you an example for what I mainly listen to. This one is by Vampire Weekend, an Indie-Rock band from New York. For me this is the perfect track for a lazy Sunday. I hope you enjoy it too!
